There is also a group of women, and men, who need reconstructive breast implants.  These are the people who need them the most, due to either losing a breast from surgery or an accident, or men undergoing a sex change operation who want to feel more like a women.  A mammectomy is the surgical removal of a breast, which can come from various types of diseases, including breast cancer.  Typically, the breast is removed to take away all cancerous tissue, and after the cancer has been cleared from the body, the breast is reconstructed using an implant to restore the woman to a more normal physique.  When men undergo a sex change operation, hormones are used in order to complete the process, and breast implants are used to give them a more feminine frame.

Plastic surgeons are most commonly known as the greed Hollywood doctors who make beautiful women look even better for vast sums of money in Beverly Hills, but this isn't always the case.  While many plastic surgeons do function within private practices as to not restrain their financial growth, there are just as many who work in hospitals and offices all over the U.S. to help anyone who may need or want breast implants.  You should always ask to see credentials and degrees when looking for doctors to perform a breast augmentation surgery, since they should have all of the same medical training and experience that every other type of surgeon has.

Breast implants cost vary greatly by which region of the country you are in and the reasoning behind the surgery.  If you are in need or reconstruction due to surgery or an accident, then your insurance may pick it up.  If you are getting breast implants purely for cosmetics purposes, then the cost may be higher.  The average for breast implants tends to range between $3,000 and $4,000.  Additional fees are usually added due to things like anesthetic and the time you have to stay in the hospital.
